Central Access provides access to mental health and drug & alcohol services for adults, adolescents, and children from Lucas County. This program offers the convenience of coming one place for assessment and referral in our county. The service is available to all clients regardless of insurance/ability to pay. Clients receive a diagnostic assessment, determining the severity of their condition. They are then given a priority for mental health and/or alcohol or drug treatment with an appropriate provider in the community. The client will then receive a scheduled appointment with a specific date and time and directions to the appropriate office.
Central Access operates a walk-in clinic Monday through Friday. If you are seeking Mental Health and/or Alcohol/Drug Diagnostic Assessment, you should arrive no earlier than 730 am and no later than 830 am any weekday morning. Each person coming to the walk-in clinic will meet with an office staff person who will update or enter demographic information including income and health insurance status. Immediately following, you will meet with a Clinical staff person who will assess the urgency of your mental health and alcohol/drug treatment needs. Additionally, we follow a prioritization protocol that was developed in conjunction with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County. The urgency of treatment need along with this protocol guides the clinical staff member in offering appointments vs. asking that people return to the next days clinic (if you cannot return for the time offered same day or slots are full for the day you walked in). Those walking in after 8:30am can discuss their options by presenting to the Central Access office window upon arrival.
We have day and evening appointment times available each weekday Monday through Friday. The office is open from 8am until 10pm with the last assessment beginning at 730pm. We have Saturday daytime appointments. We have phone only open on Sundays from 8a-430p.
When you come in for the walk-in clinic or for your appointment, be prepared with the following:

Proof of residency (Ohio ID, Driver's License, etc. with present address)
